Have you ever felt like you don’t belong? Like your friends or colleagues are going to discover you’re a fraud, and you don’t actually deserve your accomplishments? These feelings are known as impostor syndrome. Imposter syndrome is loosely defined as doubting your abilities and feeling like a fraud. It disproportionately affects high-achieving people, who find it difficult to accept their accomplishments and are constantly questioning whether they’re deserving of accolades. The problem with impostor syndrome is that the experience of doing well at something does nothing to change your beliefs. The more you accomplish, the more you just feel like a fraud. The thought process is: If you do well, it must be the result of luck because a socially incompetent person just doesn’t belong.
The good news is that you can overcome imposter syndrome. In this episode, my guest, Amber Diebert, and I will share with you some practical ways to ditch the imposter syndrome and get out of your own way so you can enjoy your life and your success.
