I hired an astrology coach because I wanted a different perspective on my business, not because I knew much about astrology. Before working with Alyssa, my experience was limited to reading horoscopes in magazines and newspapers. I was curious enough to book a natal chart reading, but I wasn’t expecting it to become an ongoing part of how I made business decisions.
What surprised me wasn’t the astrology itself. It was how our conversations helped me make sense of what I was already experiencing. During the months we worked together, I made one of the biggest changes in my business. I stopped identifying solely as the MFR Coach and decided to build my business around helping all hands-on therapists. That shift felt significant, and having someone explain it through the lens of my natal chart gave me confidence to move forward instead of second-guessing myself.
In this conversation, Alyssa explains how she uses astrology to coach entrepreneurs, what a natal chart can reveal about your business, and why she sees astrology as a framework for understanding patterns rather than predicting the future. We also talk about the concepts that have had the biggest impact on me, including business identity, ideal clients, money patterns, and why sometimes letting go is exactly what allows your next stage of growth.
An astrology coach uses a person’s natal chart to help them understand patterns, strengths, and challenges that may influence their life and business.
When I asked Alyssa how she describes her work, she explained that she helps entrepreneurs get out of their own way and make more money using astrology. Rather than treating astrology as entertainment, she uses it as a coaching tool to help business owners better understand themselves and the decisions they’re making.
One of the first things we talked about was the difference between horoscopes and astrology. Like many people, my only experience had been reading the horoscope section in magazines and newspapers. Alyssa explained that those horoscopes are based only on your sun sign, while a natal chart looks at the full placement of the planets at the moment you were born. That broader view is why many people find a natal chart feels much more personal than a general horoscope.
That fuller picture is what initially drew me in. I started with a natal chart reading out of curiosity, but it quickly became clear there was much more depth than I expected. Instead of giving me predictions, Alyssa helped me understand how different parts of my chart related to the way I approach business, relationships, and change.
Working with an astrology coach gave me context for major business changes and helped me move through them with more confidence.
I started with a natal chart reading, then booked a Year Ahead Reading to look at what was coming in both my business and my life. After those sessions, I decided to spend six months working with Alyssa because I wanted ongoing support while I navigated several significant changes.
During that time, I made one of the biggest decisions I’ve made as a business owner. After years of identifying as the MFR Coach, I decided to expand my work and help all hands-on therapists. That wasn’t a small adjustment. My identity had been closely tied to the MFR community, so making that change came with a lot to process.
One insight that stayed with me was Alyssa’s description of “composting relationships.” She explained that I would be letting go of relationships and moving through an identity shift. Instead of making that sound like a loss, she described it as compost. Something that breaks down so it can nourish what comes next. That perspective helped me see the transition as a healthy part of building my business rather than something I needed to resist. Looking back, it made it much easier to move forward without carrying unnecessary baggage from that chapter into the next one.
Business astrology uses a natal chart to identify patterns that can inform decisions, relationships, and business strategy without claiming to predict specific outcomes.
One of the things I appreciated most about working with Alyssa was her approach. She repeatedly emphasizes that she isn’t a psychic. Instead, she describes herself as someone who understands the language of astrology and uses it to help entrepreneurs recognize recurring patterns, strengths, and challenges.
According to Alyssa, a business owner’s chart can reveal much more than personality traits. She looks at a person’s brand planet to understand how they’re naturally positioned in business, an ideal client planet to identify who they’re best suited to help, and patterns that may influence their relationship with money, pricing, and boundaries. Rather than treating these as fixed outcomes, she uses them as starting points for coaching conversations and personal growth.
That distinction mattered to me. Instead of trying to tell me exactly what would happen next, Alyssa helped me understand the conditions I was working within and the choices available to me. For me, that made astrology feel less like fortune telling and more like another framework for thinking through business decisions with greater clarity.
My natal chart reflected the way I naturally coach therapists by identifying patterns that point toward solving root problems instead of surface-level symptoms.
One of my favorite parts of the conversation was hearing Alyssa explain what she sees in my chart. She described my brand planet as the Moon in the fourth house and said it aligns with the archetype of a “root worker.” In her words, that means I’m naturally inclined to look beneath the obvious problem instead of chasing quick fixes.
She used pricing as an example. If someone comes to me saying clients won’t pay their rates, my first question isn’t about marketing. It’s about what they believe their services are worth. That’s exactly how I coach. I’m interested in uncovering the beliefs, habits, and business decisions that created the problem in the first place instead of treating the symptom.
Alyssa also explained that my ideal client planet points toward therapists who care deeply about mastering their craft and supporting the people who depend on them. She noted that many of these business owners become attached to doing things a certain way, even when those approaches are no longer serving them. Understanding that has helped me better recognize the people I serve best and why my coaching often starts by challenging long-held assumptions before we ever talk about marketing or growth strategies.
Alyssa is the founder of The Karuna Lab, a psychological astrology and coaching practice built around Practical Mysticism for the Ambitious Soul. She helps high-achieving people stop making decisions from old survival patterns and start making them from genuine self-knowledge, using the natal chart as a diagnostic tool for that process.

If this conversation resonated with you, remember this: becoming a better therapist and building a better business are two different skill sets.
Most therapists spend years learning techniques, earning certifications, and improving their clinical expertise. Very few are taught how to think like a business owner. That’s the gap I help therapists close.
Foundations is my 12-month coaching program for hands-on therapists who are ready to stop starting over with their business. Together, we’ll build the systems, pricing, policies, and decision-making skills that create a practice that consistently supports both your clients and your life.
